I, John Brant, of the Beach, Head of Lake Ontario, do hereby solemnly declare that the damage in the accompanying Claim set forth has been actually sustained by my mother Catharine Brant, & that she has not received any remuneration whatever either from His Majesty’s Government; the individuals who committed the damage Claimed for, or from any person or persons for them.

Estimated at Two hundred & fifty two pounds, fifteen shillings
Mich Groti of Nelson deposeth & sayeth that to his knowledge the Indians about the Middle of Winter 1814 Killed Eleven of Mr Brant’s sheep, which he saw had been killed by the Indians encamped near Mr Brants, & that he knowing the Indians turned their Horses into Mr Brants wheat of which thus destroyed fifteen Acres & that they also turned their horses into his meadows & that this did damage in his meadows [both?] and twenty [illegible] 7 that be believes the charges in the within account is not extravagant.

Henry Groti of Nelson deposeth & sayeth that to his knowledge the Indians encamped near Mr Brants were constantly burning up his rails & [further?] is confident they burned the number of four thousand and five hundred as charged in this Account & that this did damage to his House & Barn to the amot charged in this account & that the charges in this account are not extravagant.

Augustus Bates near neighbour of Mr Brants deposeth & sayeth that he knows the Indians encamped about Lieut John Brants were constantly burning his rails, that they threw down his fences & turned their horses in his field & that he verily believes they destroyed his Wheat as stated in this acct & that he also knows they turned their horses in his meadows & that he believes they destroyed the meadow as above described, & that he conceives the charges in this account to be rather under [illegible] the value

The Petition of John Brant of the Mohawk Village Grand River
Humbly Showeth that your Petitioner laid before the Commissioners of the former Board a Statement of his losses, accompanied by documentary evidence.
Your Petitioner therefore prays that your Honorable Board will refer to his former statement, and grant him such remuneration as in your wisdom you may deem just.
