I Caty Lowell of the Township of Niagara and village of Saint David’s do hereby solemnly declare that I have actually sustained the damage in the accompanying claim set forth and that I have

I Caty Lowell of the Township of Niagara and village of Saint David’s do hereby solemnly declare that the above is a true and correct statement of the loss which I sustained when Plundered and Burnt by a Party of the Enemy under the Command of General Brown on or about the 16th of July 1814 and I do in like manner declare that I have not Recd any remuneration whatever on account of the loss so sustained

WE David Secord Esq and Richard Merchant both of the Township of Niagara and village of Saint David’s do hereby Certify that as we have Carefully Examined the accompanying Claim made by Caty Lowell of the township & village aforesaid for Damages sustained by her and we do further Certify from our own knowledge that the said Caty Lowell has actually suffered the Damage for which she Claims to be remunerated and that in our estimation the sum of two hundred & eighty three pounds thirteen shillings and six pence Halifax Cy is a Just and Reasonable Compensation for the same and also that the several articles put down are not over charged

Personally appeared before me Alexr Hamilton one of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace of the Dist of Niagara, Catherine Lowell Widow, of Saint David’s who being duly sworn doth say that the above property was taken and destroyed by the enemy on the 18th July 1814 and that the property is not too high charged neither has she recd any remuneration for the same

Personally appeared before me Alexander Hamilton one of His Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for said District, Richard Woodruff of St. David’s Merchant who being duly sworn deposeth and sayeth that he has knowledge of Catherine Lowell having her house burnt as within described and also the most of the within articles charged in the within account and further that he is not directly or indirectly interested in the result of the event and believing it to be a just and reasonable charge
