Dearest Geraldine,

Thanks honey for the five letters received to-day, one with snaps enclosed. I like the one best where you are kneeling with Judy. You're a pretty girl and no mistake.

I see you have your heart set on visiting England after cessation of hostilities so I won't say anything except that I admire your mother's good sense in staying in a good country. I'll have to drop in to see her when I get back and you're over here. Maybe I'll be able to drop in on any lonesome members of your sorority and cheer them up in the absence of their president with the wanderlust. You know what the song says about that don't you - two lonely hearts beating as one can be miserable and still have a lot of fun.

It may do you a world of good to come over here as I'm sure you'll have a much greater appreciation of home. Don't mine me honey, I just have a one track mind on certain subjects.

You know I can't believe what you say about not liking little girls after the description you gave me of the day you entertained that sweet little girl whose picture you sent. Personally, after having so much fun with my own two little nieces, I can think of no greater privilege than having two such children to raise. I'd prefer a boy and a girl but certainly wouldn't kick at two girls. Wouldn't you like to reconsider your statement?

We were out again yesterday on a short run which lasted most of the day. We're leaving again to-night on a trip with our return scheduled for to-morrow night. Fortunately, as things now stand we will be able to stay in our sacks until five-thirty in the morning. You never know when schedules will be changed though, so I'm not counting heavily on getting a night's sleep.

This has been a lovely day honey; I'd like to be able to walk with you in the twi-light to the top of the hills alongside the train - just hand in hand to-gether. It would be fun and more than that. I'm sure you understand what I mean. Everything is so peaceful this evening it's hard to realize why we are over here. We'll no doubt have more reminders before the night is over.

From your letter I gather that you are a connoisseur (I just had to look that up to see if I spelled it correctly) of fine china. My mother and you have one thing in common as I always brought her a cup and saucer back from all trips I made. She has quite a collection in the china cabinet in our dining room. Another thing she likes is souvenir spoons to go with her cups. They're nice to have when company comes and Toots takes great pride in them.

Now since I won't be able to write a letter to-morrow I'm going to knock off another one to-night. I notice you say your morale needs raising occasionally too, so I'll try to oblige.

Be good little one - take it easy, be a sport, and just remember that life is short. When you say your prayers, say one for me, will you. I mean that.

All my love,

Johnny
